I'm listening to a Taylor Swift song entitled, The Best Day, (playing on my blog)and I am thinking about being a mom. I miss the days of dress-up, performance plays on our front room hearth, princess stories before bed and rubbing arms to go to sleep, pink fuzzy bear ear coats, spa birthday toasting with Martinelli's, happy meals from McDonald's and chicken Stars from Carl's Jr., dancing in the front room, onesies, bike rides with the girls on the back seat, being the hang out and dress up house...I could go on and on. Where did the time go? I am so grateful to have these memories to cherish. I am grateful to be a mom to my three wonderful girls...each so individual and precious. What a privilege my Heavenly Father has blessed me with. I think about my own mom and how much I cherished being her daughter. She was a wonderful mother and I learned so much from her example.
I'm grateful for 15 year old daughters and how I get to drive everywhere with them; once the license comes, they are always driving on their own...I miss that Kylie and Macy....I am enjoying the learner permit phase with Abby right now.
So, like this song, I hope and pray my girls each feel as though they had their "best day" with me on occasion and that we have many more to come. I know I did with my mom at the Oregon Coast in the last year of her earthly life. I pushed her in her walker up to the Seaside boardwalk and we talked and talked and she told me then that she knew it would be her last trip to the ocean. My mom was never afraid of death, as she knew she was going on ahead of us to be with her family who had gone on before her. She was an incredible lady!
Motherhood...I am so grateful for it.

Very nice Kristy. I feel the same way about motherhood. What an honor it is to be entrusted with these beautiful spirits.
It is so good to take a minute and reflect on all the memories. I am sure that you'll be making many more. And, someday there will be little pint size version's of your girls on that same hearth!
Being a mother is truly my greatest joy!
Mine too Jill...thanks!
Amen, Auntie. That was really a sweet post. I always appreciate a reminder to enjoy my babies while they're small. Especially on a day like today when I changed 4 poopy diapers (one being a jammy-staining blow-out by Paisley), changed the sheets on a pee-peed bed and then just kept the laundry loads coming after Galla puked scrambled eggs all over her bed! It was SO STINKY (I know--too much information). And that was just the first part of the day! But I also got so many little cuddles and kisses and you should hear that Paisley giggle! All is well. :)
Kristy: your mom taught all of us so much in her lifetime. She left that love and those values for all of us to continue and pass along to our children. She sent me the most incredible email on her feeling of death as it was nearing for her, I only regret I don't still have it on email, I will have to preserve it in my mind. I have some wonderful pictures I just found that my Mom had of your parents, I'll try and make copies. Love Cousin Lynda
What a sweet post! I need to be reminded of all those memories, because that is what they will be...just memories because time flies by way too fast! I probably should not complain when I slip and fall in my daughters pee wishing she would be potty trained already, or dealing with huge blowouts in darling white outfits that will probably never be "darling", or "White" again or wishing my 5 year old was still in the Dora stage of life, and not the High School Musical stage of life! Thanks for reminding me to enjoy the journey, not the destination!
I love you so much Mama! Thank you for this post...I read it awhile ago but it was good to read it again! I love you so much and appreciate the wonderful woman of God you are and the examle you are to me! I want to "grow up" to be just like you! I love you more than words can say!
